The Policy

Professional Development is an essential aspect of Faculty and Professional Staff (FPS). The FPS plans their professional development at the beginning of each academic year. The major components considered under PDP are as follows:

The Components of faculty PDP shall be based on the following criteria and weights breakup:

The Institution shall support Faculty Research and Skills development activities for Financial and Non-Financial resources. The prominent professional development activities are supported by financial or non-financial assistance. 

The Research and Skills Development component for a Part-Time faculty shall be applicable only if the Research work conducted is under the affiliation of ADUC.

  1. The Extra-Curricular or Co-Curricular activities shall also be counted as Service to the Institution. 
  2. The evaluation of Part-Time faculty shall be based on the extended opportunity to serve the Institution.
  3. The faculty members serving in the committees (other than the committees, as per their Job description) shall be awarded scores in this section as follows:

Community Engagement

The Part-Time faculty shall be evaluated for Community Engagement only if the activity is conducted under the affiliation of ADUC.

The organized Community Engagement activities shall be awarded scores as per the following criteria and as per the feedback report of the Dean, Student Affairs and Community Engagement:

Procedure

  1. The Professional Development Plan shall be submitted by the FPS to the Unit head for discussion and approval as per PDP Template
  2. In the case of Faculty, the PDP shall be discussed with the respective Dean and Chair in a joint session, whereas for Staff, it shall be discussed with the Unit head. 
  3. The Schools/Units shall forward the approved PDPs to the Human Resource Department for record-keeping and follow-up. 
  4. Suppose any Research activity in the PDP requires financial assistance. In that case, the faculty member shall contact the Dean of SRGS, and Staff members shall contact the Human Resource Department for the necessary financial approvals.
  5. Once the financial approvals are received, concerned staff members shall be informed to proceed with the activity.
  6. In case the financial approval is denied, the FPS shall revise the PDP in consultation with the respective Dean and Chair.
  7. The PDP of FPS shall be evaluated under the FPS Performance Evaluation annual cycle.
