The Policy

In case of unfair treatment, violation of non-discrimination policies, unfair administrative treatment or violations of work ethics, dismissal, etc. Faculty and Professional staff members can lodge a formal complaint or grievance. 

The policy of the ADUC is to encourage its members to attempt, to the extent that is possible, to resolve the grievance informally. In case the informal resolution is not considered satisfactory by the aggrieved, he/she can initiate a formal grievance procedure. 

 

Faculty and Professional Staff may withdraw his/her complaint at any time. Consequently, the case is deemed closed and resolved.

 

The Procedure

Faculty Grievance: The Vice-President for Academic Affairs shall constitute a committee as per the following composition:

  1. Head of the department from the grievant School 
  2. One representative from the Human Resource department
  3. One faculty member from a different School
  4. Any other member(s) relevant to the case.

 

Professional Staff Grievance: The Director of Administration and Finance shall constitute a committee as per the following composition:

  1. Head of the department from the grievant School
  2. One representative from the Human Resource department
  3. One member holding Academic Administrative Designation
  4. Any other member(s) relevant to the case.

 

The Committees shall communicate their decisions to the authority that constituted the committees, and the action will be taken accordingly. In case of non-satisfaction with the decision, The Faculty and Professional Staff can appeal against the Office of the President’s decision within ten days from the date of communicating the decision to Professional Staff. The President’s office will take action as per the “Faculty and Professional Staff Appeals” policy.
