The Policy

The major components for the Annual Performance Evaluation of a Faculty shall be as per the following components and weights distribution:

The evaluation of Part-Time faculty shall be based on the Dean/Chair of faculty’s involvement in the components mentioned. The teaching components shall be calibrated accordingly.

If Part-Time faculty is not eligible for all the components, then the components eligible shall be proportionated to 100%.

 

  • Research and Skills Development

The component shall be evaluated based on the criteria and weights as per the faculty’s Professional Development Plan. 

 

  • Service to the Institution

The component shall be evaluated based on the criteria and weights as per the faculty’s Professional Development Plan. 

 

  • Community Engagement

The component shall be evaluated based on the criteria and weights as per the faculty’s Professional Development Plan. 

 

  • Evaluation as per job Description of Administrative Designations

The administrative designations shall be evaluated for their performance as per their respective job descriptions. The performance is evaluated against the benchmarks. 

 

  • Evaluation as per Feedback Score of Administrative Designations

The administrative designations shall be evaluated for their performance as per the Feedback from the stakeholders. The feedback is collected through the Office’s Survey of Institutional Effectiveness, and the results are shared with the respective Unit head. 

 

Procedure

Faculty Annual Performance Evaluation Procedure

  1. The Employee Performance Evaluation shall be conducted annually before the end of the academic year.
  2. All the stakeholders shall provide the necessary information required as per the Annual Performance Evaluation Template to the Units before the evaluation meeting.
  3. The Human Resource Department shall schedule and plan an Evaluation session between the Evaluator and Employee. In each session, a representative from the Human Resource Department shall be present. 
  4. In case the employee needs more time, the evaluator shall grant additional time to the employee to substantiate the achievements and claims as per the Evaluation criteria and template. 
  5. The completed Annual Performance Evaluation shall be forwarded to the Human Resource Department as per the Organizational hierarchy. 
  6. The Human Resource Department shall implement the recommendations as per the policy.
  • FACULTY PROMOTION

The Policy

A Full-Time faculty can apply for promotion as per the following terms and conditions:

  1. The faculty must complete a minimum of one Academic Year (including probation period) as a full-time faculty member.
  2. The promotion applications shall be submitted to the School Dean within four weeks from the start of either Fall or Spring Semester.

 

Criteria for Promotion

The promotion of Full-Time Faculty shall be based on the following criteria:

  1. Professional Experience
  2. Teaching
  3. Research
  4. Service to the Institution
  5. Community Engagement
  6. Administrative Designation Performance (If Applicable)

 

Requirement(s) for Promotion

All the components except Research shall be assessed based on the Annual Performance Evaluation of the faculty as follows:

 

Promotion to the Rank of Professor

  2. Minimum Five Years of teaching experience of the total teaching experience shall be on the rank of Full-Time “Associate Professor” in a recognized (by the Government of the Country) Higher Education Institution.

Minimum 70% score in the teaching component of “Annual Performance Evaluation” of the preceding Academic Year.

Research

  1. Minimum Six Research Article Publication at the rank of “Associate Professor”.
  2. The publications shall be in journals listed in any one of the following databases:
  1. SCOPUS
  2. Web of Science
  3. Any other database as per the decision of the College Council

 

Promotion to the Associate Professor

  1. Minimum Five Research Article Publication at the rank of “Associate Professor”.

  3. Any other database as per the decision of the College Council

 

Promotion to the Assistant Professor

  2. Minimum Five Years of teaching experience of the total teaching experience shall be on the Full-Time “Lecturer” rank in a recognized (by the Government of the Country) Higher Education Institution.

Minimum 70% score in the teaching component of “Annual Performance Evaluation” of the preceding Academic Year.

Research

  1. Minimum Three Research Article Publication at the rank of “Associate Professor”.
  2. The publications shall be in journals listed in any one of the following databases:

  2. Web of Science
  3. Any other database as per the decision of the College Council

 

Minimum Research-based Promotion Requirements 

The minimum requirements for promotion to Professor, Associate Professor, and Assistant Professor are 45 points, 35 points, and 20 points, respectively.

Procedure 

Applications for Promotion to a higher rank must be submitted in September during the Fall semester and January during the Spring semester. 

 

Application for promotion shall be addressed to the School Dean. The candidate for promotion must submit together with his/her request a comprehensive portfolio including publications, other scholarly achievements, new course development, academic achievements, etc. The Dean shall constitute a Faculty Promotion Committee consisting of, in addition to the Dean, two faculty members from the same Department. The nominated faculty members shall be at a higher rank than the candidate for promotion. 

 

In case of lack of rank or specialization in the relevant School/Department, verifying that the candidate is eligible to apply for promotion rests with the Dean. The Promotion Committee/Dean may request supplementary information to complete the initial review. 

 

Upon the completion of the application review, the school Promotion Committee/Dean should provide a recommendation on whether to proceed with the promotion of the candidate or not. In case of a positive recommendation, the Dean should submit the application and all its supporting documents to the Vice President for Academic Affairs, who will refer it to the institutional Faculty Promotion Committee. 

 

The Institutional Faculty Promotion Committee should conduct a comprehensive review and evaluation to assess the candidate’s teaching, research, and service performance. The Vice President will select three external experts in the candidate’s disciplinary specialty to review the application. 

 

Within one month from the receipt of the promotion application and its relevant documents, the external evaluator is expected to complete the Evaluation Report and forward it to the vice president’s office. ADUC will compensate the external evaluator for each Evaluation Report, payable within one month of the date of receipt. At least two positive responses from the external reviewers should be received to entitle the candidate for promotion. 

 

The Institutional Promotion Committee shall review the case within a maximum period of two months and make its recommendations to the Vice President. The President shall inform the candidate of his decision within one month. In case of a positive outcome, the effective date shall be the date of the promotion decision. The candidate can appeal the decision within one month of having been officially informed of the decision.

 

  • Professional Staff Promotion

The promotion of professional of staff is based on their annual performance and feedback from the Unit Head. Professional staff shall apply for promotion to the HR department.
