The Policy

ALDAR University College expects the Faculty members to protect both ADUC’s and their interest in intellectual property rights as mandated by UAE Law.

ADUC policy on data ownership and intellectual property rights is as follows:

  1. ADUC has full ownership of all instructional materials (including computer-based materials) developed by Faculty members while in full-time employment with the institution.
  2. ADUC retains the right to distribute, reproduce, and modify all such course and instructional materials.
  3. ADUC acknowledges the proprietary rights of Faculty on research output generated during their employment with ALDAR. Authors of articles, research papers, books, a book chapter, and case studies are given full credit and ownership for their work.
  4. However, the name of ADUC must be mentioned in all publications together with the name of the author(s).
  5. In specific cases for projects and assignments undertaken in partnership between Faculty, student, and the institution, ADUC reserves the right to determine the copyright issues. As students, faculty members, and ALDAR University College staff, we belong to an academic community with high scholarly standards of which we are justly proud. Our community also holds certain fundamental ethical principles to which we are deeply committed. We believe it is contrary to justice, academic integrity, and the spirit of intellectual inquiry to submit the statements or ideas of others’ work as one’s own. To do so is plagiarism or cheating, offenses punishable under ADUC’s disciplinary system. Because these offenses undercut the distinctive moral and intellectual character of ADUC, we take them very seriously, and punishments for them may range up to permanent expulsion from ADUC.

Proper acknowledgment of other’s ideas is expected, whether that use is by direct quotation or by paraphrase; however, if any written source is consulted and material is used from that source, directly or indirectly, the source should be identified by author, title, and page number. Any doubts about what constitutes “use” should be addressed to the instructor.

ALDAR University College expects the Faculty members to protect both ADUC’s and their interest in intellectual property rights as mandated by UAE Law.
